Technology
BMDC™ — Battery Mechanical Dynamic Compression — is an innovative mechanical system designed to manage battery compression dynamically throughout the operating cycle.
By maintaining controlled pressure on the cells, BMDC™ is designed to respond to dimensional changes within the battery pack, supporting more stable operating conditions over time.

How BMDC™ works
Calibrated curvature
The compression element is formed with a defined radius of curvature to obtain the required elastic response.
Mechanical tensioning
The curved element is progressively deformed and maintained under tension against the battery pack through straps or a rigid mechanical system.
Dynamic compression
The elastic reaction of the system maintains a controlled compression force while accommodating dimensional changes within the battery pack during operation.
Why BMDC™
Battery cells can undergo dimensional changes during charge and discharge cycles. BMDC™ is designed to provide controlled compression while allowing limited movement within the battery pack.
Dynamic response
The system applies the required compression while allowing the cells to expand and contract slightly during operation.
Compact architecture
Thin elastic elements help reduce overall dimensions and added weight while keeping the mechanical structure simple.
Flexible integration
BMDC™ can be adapted to rigid battery case, strap-based configurations and different mechanical layouts.

Beyond conventional foam pads
Traditional foam pads placed between cells provide a simple preload, but their fixed compressibility can limit their ability to maintain uniform cell-face flatness as the pack changes dimension.

Conventional foam pads
Compression is generated between adjacent cells through elastic material.
Traditional PU or EVA foam pads experience uneven localized deflection, which can make it difficult to maintain consistent flatness of the cell faces during swelling (ballooning effect).
BMDC™ approach
BMDC™ shifts the compression function to calibrated mechanical elements acting at front-end of the pack level.
This allows simple insulating separators, or cooling profiles, to be used between adjacent cells instead of compression pads.
BMDC™ applies the required compression without completely restraining the cells, allowing the battery pack to respond dynamically to dimensional changes during operation.
